‘Children of the Forest’
By Elsa Beskow (Author)

Description:

The children of the forest live deep in the roots of an old pine tree. This book invites children to follow their engaging adventures through each season as they play hide-and-seek with the squirrels and throw snowballs in winter.

This is the mini edition of a perennial favorite!

'Sustainability at its best and an inspiration for all would-be down-shifters! Recently republished in a new smaller format.'

(Juno magazine: a natural approach to family life)

Elsa Beskow (1874-1953), born Elsa Maartman in Stockholm, was a pioneering author and illustrator of children's books in Sweden―perhaps the best known of all Swedish children's book artists. Her books were inspired by her own childhood experiences, as well as those of her six children. Central themes were the relationships between children and adults and children's independent initiative. Her books are continually reprinted, and many have become classics. She also illustrated ABC books and songbooks for Swedish schools.

'Recommended Reading for Muslim Children and Parents'

Each month, Rumi's Garden will recommend eight books that will allow English speaking Muslim parents to grow a library in their homes, and supplement the education of their children (ages 0-18). The books range in topic, and are handpicked by us to allow for a wholesome liberal education focusing on growth, spirituality, Islam and of course, entertainment. Please note that many of our book choices are inspired by the Great Books curriculum, Harvard Classics, Sacred Books of the East Series, recommendations by Muslim scholars, as well as our experience with our two daughters. The age categories the books are placed under are not definitive. We humbly ask that you look into the books that interest you, to see if it is suitable for your child.
